Tamashii Kumo

Character Design & 3D Workflow

Tamashii Kumo is a character design project where I explored the full workflow from initial concept to final 3D render and pose.

This project focuses on translating a stylized concept into a complete character, covering both 2D development and 3D production.

See below for the full process.

Moodboarding and early visual exploration through collage, experimenting with extreme shapes, styles, and ideas to define the creative direction.

Exploring variations in shape, silhouette, and proportion to refine the design, inspired by the visual style of Ni no Kuni.

Turnaround sheet, close-ups, and poses created to clearly define the character for 3D production.

3D workflow: blockout in Maya, sculpting in ZBrush, retopology in Maya, and texturing in Substance Painter.
